Ceramics are heat-resistant, nonmetallic, inorganic solids. They are of compounds from metallic and nonmetallic elements. We use Traditional ceramics in dishes, crockery, flowerpots, and roof and wall tiles.

The art of making clay pottery is as old as human civilization. This age-old tradition of making clay pottery still exists in our societies. It still possesses strong socio-cultural values in our livelihood. Despite of all influences of modernization and development, the potters of Kathmandu Valley still find their livelihood on their potter’s wheels.

About Terracotta

Terracotta is a clay-like earthenware ceramic that can be either glazed or unglazed. The word “terracotta” comes from the Italian words for “baked earth.” Also, clay is the raw material, ceramic and pottery are generally the same thing, just semantics, but some would disagree on definitions, porcelain is high fire, terracotta or earthenware is generally low fire.

What is a Piggy Bank?

Piggy bank is the traditional name of a coin container normally in use by children. The piggy bank is to collectors as a “still bank” as oppose to the “mechanical banks” popular in the early 20th century.  During The Middle Ages, in about 15th century, metal was expensive and seldom which was in use for household wares. Instead, dishes and pots were of an economical clay of name “PYGG”. Whenever people could save an extra coin, they dropped it into one of their clay jars. They called this their pygg bank or their piggy bank.
